Some Quick Tips

Here are 9 quick tips for you, when using Google Adwords

  1. Include negative keywords in your campaign to stop your ad showing when you don't want it to.
  2. Make sure you set your daily budget to what you can afford
  3. Test and measure your ads to see which ones get the best results.
  4. A good capture form on your website will make all the difference.
  5. Make sure you use analytics in your website to track your visitors.
  6. Use all the different types of matches for each keyword, Broad Phrase and exact matches
  7. Always use at least two ads for ad group you create in Adwords. This is so you can split test and see which one performs better.
  8. Think about your keywords from the customers view
  9. Use the google keyword tool and type in "restaurants in london" and take a look at how many people are typing in these keywords, in one month. Now try it with keywords relating to your own business and see what QUALIFIED traffic you are missing out on. Remember this is just one set of keywords! imagine if you had 10 or even 100. Cool isn't it!

Enhanced Ad Sitelinks

Google have been talking about, how useful ad sitelinks can be within an Adwords campaign. They give users more options, and deliver advertisers more clicks. On average, the clickthrough rate is 30% higher for ads with sitelinks than those without. Google continued experimenting with new ways to make sitelinks even better. It works by incorporating text from ads in your account that are related to your sitelinks. The easiest way to understand things is with an example:

Say you've created sitelinks for your pizza restaurant campaign, and your ad displays sitelinks as shown here:

Now, let's say your account also includes the following text ads:

With this enhancement, your ad could now look like this:

To be eligible, your ad with sitelinks must show above Google search results (the top three positions) and your account must contain active ads closely related to the sitelinks in your campaign. What you are essentially doing is showing ads within ads.

In testing, people reported that ads with enhanced sitelinks were more useful and relevant, and clickthrough rates were significantly higher than the same ad with traditional 2- and 3-line sitelinks.

If you’re not already using ad sitelinks and would like to get started contact C.P.I Lead Generation and we will see how we can help.

Recent changes to Adwords

Google has recently made changes to top ads that allows you to display more information where it’s most likely to be noticed which would be in the headline. By taking information from the first description line and moving it to the headline, Google found that they were able to create a better user experience and improve advertiser performance. In fact, they found that, ads with longer headlines receive a 6% average increase in click through rate compared to the same ads with a standard headline and description. To increase the chances that your ad will appear with the longer headline, make sure that description line 1 is a complete phrase or sentence and ends in punctuation (e.g., a period or question mark). This will push your first description line up and show with the headline.

All your ads that appear in the top three positions above the free listings will now look like this

Terms of Adwords and What They Mean

Campaign

Campaign is a set of ad groups (ads, keywords, and bids) that share a budget, location targeting, and other settings. Your AdWords account can have one or many ad campaigns running.

Ad group

A set of keywords, ads, and bids that is a key part of how your account is organized. Each ad campaign is made up of one or more ad groups.

Daily Budget

Your daily budget is the amount that you're willing to spend on a specific AdWords campaign each day.
On any single day, the AdWords system may deliver up to 20% more ads than your daily budget calls for. This helps make up for other days within the same billing period in which your daily budget is not reached.

Keywords

Words or phrases describing your product or service that you choose to help determine when and where your ad can appear.
The keywords you choose are used to show your ads to your people. Select high-quality, relevant keywords for your ad campaign to help you reach only the most interested people who are more likely to become customers you want.

Cost-per-click (CPC) bidding

Cost-per-click (CPC) bidding means that you pay for each click on your ads. You set CPC bids to tell Google how much you're willing to pay for each click.

Impressions

How often your ad is shown. An impression is counted each time your ad is shown on a search result page or other site on the Google Network.
